Vision

Centre of excellence for maternal health in Ghana

Every woman can give birth safely and with dignity. Every midwife is empowered through training and innovation. Every community benefits from sustainable, high‑quality care. Combining decades of NHS experience with local knowledge, we are setting a new benchmark for midwifery that can be replicated across Ghana and beyond.

How We Work

Mary Aning's Story

After 30+ years as an NHS midwife at Chase Farm Hospital, Mary returned to her roots with a simple goal: safer births for mothers in Takoradi. Self‑funded and family‑supported, Above and Beyond is the next chapter of a lifelong commitment to care.

Why Now

Maternal mortality in Ghana remains too high—about 1 in 380 births compared to 1 in 10,000 in the UK. Building capacity locally saves lives today and creates the midwives and leaders of tomorrow.
